I would like to know if anyone has heard of wheel corrosion causing air leaks on a Ranger. It is common? I can't think of what else could be causing the problem.

If you have steel wheels on, this might be a possibility but not too likely for an aluminum wheel. Have a similar issue I've had to chase around on my Xterra 4X from wheel to wheel of all things.
Couple things I would check is valve stem seal, or a possible bad bead setting in which case I would have the tire R&R and reset the bead and replace the valve stem seal too. On one particular occasion we had a TPMS sensor leaking through the valve stem itself. Still trying to figure that one out.
Before you do all of that, you could take a spray bottle with a heavy dish soap mix, and liberally spray around the inner and outer bead as well the valve seal OR inflate it an extra 10PSI and stick it in a small tub of water and start looking for bubbles that way too.
