Hey all-

Looking to perhaps get a new set of wheels when my tires need to be replaced. I am looking into potentially getting Cast alumunim wheels. I know that cast is not nearly as strong as forged or steel, but I am looking for some lightweight options out there. I wanted to go lightweight for better MPG and braking etc, and though I do know that the price of wheels vs MPG gain would most likely not pay off, I enjoy the benefit of having nicer wheels as well. Currently I am running the stock 5-spoke steelies with Cooper AT3 235's and am getting around 24-27MPG (I drive roughly 100 miles a day to and from work).

I am unsure if I am going to replace the Coopers with AT3s again as I almost never go offroad, gravel roads occasionally to campsites. I might go with the best lasting and wet road all season tire out there (I tow a jonboat and ramps can get slippery).

I am asking about the potential to break for cast wheels. I read that larger sidewall tires help protect the wheels from rough roads so in a truck with cast and 235/75 wheels would it be safe to say not much will happen to the rim? I drive on flat paved roads 99.99% of the time, highways, and boat ramps 1x a week. I cant justify spending $200+ for a single forged rim. Any thoughts? Also, if you know of some wheels that would fit, I would be interested in checking them out- looking for the classic truck style wheel (Alcoa style)

If you want to maximize acceleration stick with the stock size tires. The truck is small so cast wheels would be just fine.
