Re: Tires vs mpg
33.4 LOL and I believe you when you say you would but if works I will have to do it too then and I cant afford that lol
ok back on topic:
Go with the 285/75/16's if your keeping your stocks. Your are safe with that and you will not be disappointed.

Re: Tires vs mpg
^ Agreed. Buying my 285's was the best thing I've done.

Re: Tires vs mpg
Sorry, I didn't see you had 16" wheels. If that's the case......
I totally agree with the 285's. I ran them on my stock 16's before going to 15's and 31's.
They are great for everything, appearance and functionality wise.

Re: Tires vs mpg
I paid $200 for my tuner(used) and $115 for 3 tunes. That was from Doug at Bamachips before he quit doing Ranger tunes. I'm not sure what tunes people use now. I think I read somewhere that somebody is offering free tunes for life if you buy their tunes. I THINK.

try Fred at rouge performance.
http://rogueperformance.com/
he sold me an xcal 2 and tunes for about 350 if i remember correctly ( i bought mine 3 years ago)
My truck runs great and I've never had an issue.
I live in canada though, so I had to pay a lot of exchange rate at the time, I'm sure it will be cheaper for you.

I've considered getting some new tunes from him.

Re: Tires vs mpg
so how does the tuner work when you buy it from some guy online? or do you tune it yourself?

Re: Tires vs mpg
I have 33's on 15x8 wheels with 87 octane "performance" tune from SCT, and I get about 17 mpg per tank in mixed driving....

I bought mine from fred online, new, and he shipped it to me.
I then used the tuner to get my " strategy code" I think mine started something like PYOK.... and emailed that to fred, he then sent me some tunes.
you can choose between a variety of tunes such as anywhere from 87 to 94 performance torque or even mileage tunes. you just have to give him all the info he requests about your truck and he can tune it to that.
if you buy one used you may have to get it unlocked first.

I got the option to order three tunes with my xcal, included in the initial purchase price.
once you pick you can't change them unless you pay for more tunes.
I think it's 50 per tune after that
also some places give free tunes for life if you buy the tuner new from them.
I went 87 perf 91 torque and 91 perf.
I pretty much use the 91 tunes when fuel is cheap and go back to the 87 when fuel up in Canada spikes as it usually does.
