Default Front wheel bearings

Is it possible to apply too much grease when replacing wheel bearings? I replaced the front wheel bearings and races about a month ago. I greased everything really well. I greased the spindle, the races and inside the rotor and packed the bearings really good. Now every once in a while a little bit of grease gets on my rim. I took the tire off and made sure my dust cover was on good.

In general, having lotsa grease is good. Esp. good in wheel bearings. Don't skimp on WB grease. You want enough to thoroughly pack the bearings & races, and the new seals should keep it reasonably contained. You did change the seals too, right?

But how much is too much? It really depends on how excessively you pasted it on. Is it still visibly oozing once you closed everything up? Having WAY, WAY too much might prevent proper tightening of the WB nut, and perhaps slinging loose grease onto your brakes. If it slings onto your rims, then that's too much, because it's probably also slinging onto your brakes. Yikes!

Grease & oil on your rotors & brake pads will cause your brakes to fail.

I torqued the WB nut to spec. And also replaced the seals. I checked the dust cover and made sure it was sealed and secured but after a week or so it will sling a little out on the rim. Probably got a little carried away with the grease.
