why get 4?
hey i am looking at geting new wheels and just thought that sense my truck is 2 wheel drive i should only get two tires and save money. why does everbody get all four tires cus u could save 200+ if u just bought the two rear ones. i know u would get all 4 fer a 4x4 but for a 2 wheel drive truck just get one. why? and yes i know it might look nicer wit matching tires but i wont mind saveing bunch of money. and with street tires on the front u could keep the road noice down aswell.

Re: why get 4?
Do you not rotate your tires?
That is the main reason why. Cause they will all be worn down at the same time if rotated properly

Re: why get 4?
I hate people that have 2wd's and only buy snow tires or something for the rear. Makes no sense to me.

Re: why get 4?
well if your content with that idea then put 'em both one one side. Not nearly as many people will notice.
Edit: OH snow Tires! I thought you said rims. Geez I gotta quit skimming posts.

Re: why get 4?
Any way, The added traction that snow tires povide isn't limited to acceleration. The improved traction in the front benfits your steering and braking. That's nothing to sneeze at

yeah thats also very true, but im not looking into snow tires anyway im lookin at mud tires which arent good on the road anyway. so i was thinkin that street tires would b good in the front cus they would keep the saftey on street but i also could go off roading at the same time wit the mud tires in the back

Re: why get 4?
How about just get 4 BFG AT's or if you're trying to save money and have 16" rims, get Nitto Terra Grapplers.

Re: why get 4?
I say go for it. if you don't like it then just buy 2 more. My dad has 93 f150 2wd. He runs bfg at's in the rear and regular street tread in the front. The truck is 98% street driven, but when it does get into some mud or wet grass, the at's do a good job of keeping the truck from just spinning it's tires. Just keep the tires roughly the same size. It does look stupid with when people put small street tires in the front, and huge mud tires in the rear.
