Just ordered my KM2's!
$1260.00(Canadian) taxes in, installed & balanced was the best price I could find. Think that's about $250 per tire.
Super excited. I know they may not be the #1 tire for the snow/ice, but it seems like such a great tire I'm willing accept that. I read that airing them down helps a lot in the winter. No one around here sipes them, and I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to do it myself.
I'm sure they'll be great for the other 3 seasons.

You helped in that decision. BL will go on hopefully within the next 6mo.

I saw the ko2s in there. Awesome looking tire. Very aggressive. Probably would have been the smarter choice, but I had my heart set on the km2s

Re: Just ordered my KM2's!
Haha Im taking the smarter choice this time around plus I got a hell of a deal on them. The KM2s did me great though. But for the amount of highway driving I do now it was time for an all terrain tire. You will love the KM2s. Keep them balanced and rotated and they will ride smooth and quiet.

Re: Just ordered my KM2's!
I'll be sure to do that. My new job has a big shop with access to all the equipment I need, so no excuses.
Should make life a lot easier.

I love how bfg adds a little sidewall "flare" to a design that's been around forever. Then everyone thinks they're the greatest thing since sliced bread again. They're like the Traxxas of tire companies.

They have a different rubber compound with 3d sipes and they opened up the tread for better mud handling....

You are correct. I was judging off of looks alone.. After reading up I see they have made some significant changes. I'm guessing the success of the DuraTracs prompted Bfg to step up their game a little and make a more aggressive all terrain. Still I would like to find an unbiased comparison or review test between the old and new version. Most people that buy them will obviously say they are better than the old version, since they spent their hard earned on cash on them. The major magazines also seam to be swayed easily by the advertising dollars thrown at them. No doubt Bfg makes fine tires, but do these new at's really outperform the old ones in every aspect? Some one needs to do a head to head shootout.

That is called 'marketing 101' lol
The greatest marketing success for a company is when they "improve" or "invent" something that the general public thinks they "cant live without". Talk about hitting a grand slam.

Why would it matter? The old tires are being phased out by BFG - no real reason for a "head to head" between the new & old setup at this point. Consumers don't (or wont) have a choice to buy the old all-terrains from BFG.
As you said - BFGoodrich hopes to simply gain new sales by flaunting the "improvements". Same strategy is performed yearly with car/truck releases (AKA - Look how much better this years version is!!).
They aren't worried about outdoing themselves...but rather their focus is on making their product stand-out versus the other brands available to people (as you hinted at).
It's only about "keeping up with the Jones". Even more-so given it's a disposable based product. People will always need another set - sometime & "cutting edge" is what their target audience wants. lol Nobody wants something "stale"....
Big business marketing/sales is like the old saying about sharks - if you're sitting still...you're dead.
Maintaining steady sales numbers aren't enough these days (no matter the market % already obtained) - they all require increases in those sales.
One way to increase interest, or make things "fresh again" - is to simply change the product a little & hit it with marketing. Nothing is 'new' about this technique - There are "improvements" made to just about everything (for no real reason outside of gaining the company some attention) - from breakfast cereals to truck parts.
The "same old" product doesn't make a splash & nobody talks about it like they do a shiny new toy in this world of instant gratification. Ask any 8 year old what they got for Christmas last year & be prepared to wait awhile. lol
----------
OP: Glad you pulled the trigger on what you wanted! I look forward to seeing the progress!!

Well said Logan.
I guess I would like to see a shootout just out of pure curiosity. I'm curious to see if the changes made were actually improvements, or just marketing hype. I know it doesn't change anything. Just curious is all.

I have had both. Ko's 33s on my ranger. With little more than 50% left 35s in my Chevy less than 1000 miles on them 31s on my jeep 10k+ Then got Ko2s same size on ranger. 37s on Chevy And soon to swap jeep On my ranger I do 500+ trips to Nevada with half being offroad. Rock sand dirt mud ect. Between the new and old. They do chunk less almost non existent like the kos did. They are quieter on the road. And do work better in the rain so far. It hasn't quiet gotten to winter yet with are crappy CA weather. As for the my Chevy. I only have a few little trips on them in freeway/dirt/Rock. They are quieter, and smoother and with aired down its a crawling sob in the rock. Can't wait to try in the snow this year. The Kos. Did great in the snow. Mud was good but coming from Dunlop mud rovers the ko did decent with the all t/a tread. was a major improvement in stopping on road wet and dry tho. My brother Also swapped his 32" ko-Ko2 He's got a mounted set of Ltx m/s michelins he uses in snow. Which he will probably never run again because there's not much advantage anymore I also run 6 KM2's on my Baja (had kos on it but wasn't aggressive enough) kinda weak sidewall and not that great on wet road. may swap to ko2 but a redesign mudder should be coming out soon
