Default Brake Problems

OK so here is the situation, the truck has bad brakes. Bad brakes explained being, normal braking it is ok with, but in the mornings (or when i need to stop fast anytime of day) when i first drive or when the truck has been sitting a while the brakes don't seem to engage fully, I can put both feet on the pedal and push as hard as i can and the truck will come to a gradual stop. when the truck is warmed up they work much better but not as good as they should. (and im comparing them to previous rangers that I have owned) i cant even get them to lock up on purpose on loose grave. I have bled the lines 3 times and installed new pads. The previous owner had a new master cylinder and a break booster installed before he sold it to me. I took it in to big o tires and they ran a diagnostic and cam back empty handed.

I'm out of ideas! Help?

I'd say that the pedal travels more then it should but it inst spongy or squishy. As much as id like to park it its my daily driver and im working full time along with school full time, I drive with 15 car lengths in front of me and i'm diffidently not driving it like a hot rod.

Also I have checked the rear brakes and they are working and are adjusted properly, with almost new pads, im looking at the front because that's where 70% of the braking is.

It sounds like your brake booster is not working. Check the vacuum hose to see if your getting vacuum.

I agree that it is a the booster vacuum that is not working. Best be very careful till you get this fixed because you can have catastrophic failure at any time.

If you have all those parts you listed as new I'd say look at either your calipers and brake pads and even the pedal itself. Make sure the brake pedal arm is not bent or not beginning to engage the brake booster immediately after depressing it. It could be that the arm is bent or the brake booster piston is recessed and you are limited to only applying the brakes half way and not to its full potential. This is similar to the throttle body mod, where the wire gets stretched and therefore you can't open the throttle fully when the pedal is to the floor.
