Default offset issue..

I'm not sure if this is in the right spot for this but, I'm thinking about purchasing some 16x7 in. rims with some 205/45R16 tires. The offset is +40mm and my question are... Will I need Wheel Spacers? and if I do, what size?

Thanks!

Should be fine if I am thinking of what offset is. I usually just look at height width and backspacing. If backspacing is the same as offset, it should be fine.

They are different:
https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html

So the offset is how far (neg or pos) from the wheel's center the mounting plate is.

Seems like +40 will be a little much...if I am reading the chart correctly. Because according to that my wheels have a -19 offset and that pushes my wheels about 1-1.5" out past the wheel well.

EDIT: What wheels are you looking at? That could help me in getting more info, mainly backspacing since it makes more sense to me.

The backspace is how much of the wheel is going to sit in the wheel well from the mounting surface. The higher the negative offset, the more the wheels will stick out.

Yea I don't like that chart, sounds waaaaaaaaaaaay off. Easier just to find the backspacing...for me at least.

nope you guys are all wrong
backspacing is the distance from the inside face of rim to mounting face
offset is the distance away from being center...IE- a 0 offest means the mounting is center of the rim...-40 offset means the mounting is 40mm toward teh outer face..like a frontwheel drive rim.. if you want the large outer lip then you would want a + offset

So I'm correct with needin a wheel with -51 backspacin then, as I want the deepest part of the rim to the inside?
