Default How to fit 32x11.5 on 92' Ranger

I have a ranger that will be lifted this week using the 4" Rough Country Suspension Lift. It is a '92 Ranger 2wd manual.

The specs on the lift kit says it will only fit up to 31x10.5 tires.

WHAT WE WANT:
1 - We really want the tires to be on the wider side
2 - More bubbly looking (not sure of the right term for this) not flat on the sides
3 - Want the tires to stick out a little on the sides of the truck
4 - Want the tires to fill the gap (wheel well?) as much as possible on the truck
5 - Of course we want All Terrain tires

I've seen pictures of the 31x10.5 and on most trucks they do not stick out but I've seen one picture where they do stick out. Is there something else that needs to be done for them to stick out? I was told by one person that it just depends on how wide the tire is.

Now I'm not all that sure that 32x11.5 is any wider but I did find a great deal for a half used set on Craigslist which is why I'm asking how I could fit them on the truck. I hear there is some trimming I can do to the truck? Any good links on how to do this? I'm clueless.

I also found this: 4 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2 tires in LT255/85/16
on craigslist. This aren't as tall but are very wide. Not sure how that would look on the truck. Would these leave a big gap between the tire and fender because of the smaller size?

One last question, do wheel size have much to do with what fits? The truck right now has 16" rims, would switching to 15" help with making the bigger wider tires fit on the truck? Not looking for anything fancy in terms of wheels. I don't want to attract thieves to my home.

Please do not send me the link to what tires fit what trucks because it doesn't go back to 1992 trucks. Unless you have a different link that does that would be helpful.

If you have any suggestions on how we can get them to stick out a little or have any other suggestions on tire size, etc. please let me know. Thank you!!

Default How to fit 32x11.5 on 92' Ranger

I have 31's on a '90 with a 2" lift in the front. They rub at full lock if the suspension is flexed. This could be easily fixed with a bit of fender trimming if you are willing to try that. The diameter of the will have not make a difference on the overall diameter of the tire. Eg if you have a 32x11.5x16 and a 32x11.5x15 they will both just be 32" tall. The back spacing of the rims will affect if they rub or not though. With a 4" lift I would definitely get those 32's and make them fit . What gears do you have?

Edit: if you want them to stick out farther than they will on the stock rims you need to get rims with a different back spacing.

Ok I have added a few pics but it's not lifted yet. I was told by the person lifting it that I need to find rims that sink in. I'm not sure what that type of rim is called. But I've seen a few for sale that say they are racing rims? Anyway is 15x8 enough for the 31x10.5. I would like to stick to what I know fits now that I know they can stick out as long as I have the right rim. He said otherwise he can extend some screws to make them stick out.

I do not know what gears it has or what that means. Can you help?

Here is a pic of what we want the final truck to look like and this pic has the style rims he told me to get. Any specific name for them? Again is 15x8 good for the 31x10.5 tires?

What you should do is google back spacing and read till you understand it. The only major thing different about those rims is the back spacing. 15x8 work great for 31's and if you are going to do 31's don't worry about what gears you have.

Ok, in case anyone is following this thread for their own purposes, this is what I found...

"Installing a wheel with less rear of wheel backspacing than the factory wheel results in the wheel sticking out further than the stock wheel did. "

So what I'm looking for is a negative offset = less backspacing. Finally! My answer! Thanks everyone!!
