Wheel Size & Tire Size Advantages/Disadvantages
I'm finally looking at getting myself a set of A/T BFG 33's for my truck. I was hoping to keep my stock FX4 rims (the ones pictured down below).
I was just wondering if there were any major advantages or disadvantages to this. Should I be looking for a wider rim or will my current ones be fine?

Re: Wheel Size & Tire Size Advantages/Disadvantages
If I were you I would look into getting some new rims with a wider offset, the stock offset with 33's will Rub. Its best too have 3.75 BS so you don't rub. Are you planning to do a body lift?

Re: Wheel Size & Tire Size Advantages/Disadvantages
also, depending how wide of a tire you get, the tire could look ballooned a bit. Some people like that look others do not.

I was planning on Pre-Keying (I have a 2008) with slight crank and add a leaf, plus a 2" body lift.

Hmm.. Not a fan of the ballooned look. I was going to get a width the same what I've got on these rims.
Do you folks have any rims you'd recommend? I'm not exactly looking to break bank on these but I nothing would be worse down the line than wishing I'd done it right.

Re: Wheel Size & Tire Size Advantages/Disadvantages
I have the same rims as you with 31.7" 265's and they don't look ballooned. If you got 33" 285's they would only be a little less than an inch wider so I doubt there would be much ballooning. It would look good imo.

Re: Wheel Size & Tire Size Advantages/Disadvantages
A 33 inch tire, 12.5 inch wide will not look good on a 7 inch rim. Spend the money on a new set with more offset.

I have 285/75 r16s on my truck on stock 16x7 rims. It fits on the stock rim but without some sort of lift it might be a little tight. But the grey truck is a pic I found with the same size tires with stock lift and he says it doesn't rub. Ad long as you crank your t bars you should be okay. (and get an alignment)

This doesn't look bad at all. So you're running 285/75 r16 without anything other than a T-Bar crank?

No I have a 4 inch lift. Mine is the black truck. The grey one only had his t bars cranked. But either way it works. But if you go off roading you will probably want what I have. Regardless 285/75 16s fit well on the stock 16x7 rim.

Re: Wheel Size & Tire Size Advantages/Disadvantages
I was just going to go for whichever width would best fit on my stock rim..
I don't know very much about putting tires on rims, but don't they have to be very close to each other in width? I think I need to start looking at affordable rims, then find an appropriate tire for it and go from there.

you can fit pretty big tires on the stock rim. but if youre going to look for rims, you can find some really nice off road rims for like 70 a piece. or go on craigslist, sometimes you can find good deals.

I have my 31x10.5 on my stock 15x7 rim. It looks good. Much rather have a wider rim and a better back spacing to give a wider stance. If you go with 33x12.5 I would say invest in the rims. It will be worth it.
