Hey, I have the same size stock tires and wanted to go with a narrower tire as well....what did you end up doing? I also wanted to go with a 215/85/16....its the same overall diameter so it wont throw the speedo off....from the research I've done so far that size will fit on our stock 16" X 7"wide Wheels...

How will gas MPG get messed up by using a 215/85/16? I'm pretty sure the less weight and lower rolling resistance of a tire will contribute to better MPG...by the way...F-150s use to come stock with the 215 wide tire.

to get better gas mileage you have to change the rolling circumference to the plus size versus your old tires. do a search for (tire size calculator) on the internet and this will allow you to compare various tire sizes. it is not recommended to increase your tire size on a rim size beyond 3 %. use a larger rim instead to get the rolling circumference that you want. another consideration is the weight carrying capacity should be equal to your old tires.
