Well, if you really wanted to make them look good without spending an arm and a leg, you could buy the regular aluminum colour plastidip, then just spray them

I would think something fairly benign, a glass bead. Stay away from the rough stuff, like we use aluminum oxide on our tough stuff. And use a low pressure. Lemme check what our gentle media is, I'll post it later.

+1. Sand is to abrasive for aluminum. Glass bead or soda ash should do it.

Baking soda as a blast media does a good job cleaning and polishing aluminum.
