Default Spare tire help

So i went to move my ranger to a closer open spot right near my dorm. when i got to the truck the rear wheel was flat. great... changed to the spare(in the rain)(the stock emergency jack sucks to lift with that plastic piece on the wrench) anyways noticed the spare is slightly smaller then the tires.
my question is can i safely and without doing harm to my truck make the trip back home. with the spare (from upper Bronx to central jersey, all highway about an hour ride with out traffic)
thanks

You can make it home on the tire just go at a slower pace they make the tire smaller to for less weight and less room. Just make sure the lug nuts are tight when the truck is back on the ground go in a star pattern and get them as tight as you can then stand on the handle of the wrench to make them a little tighter. The tire size will not make a differance for a spare its no differant than going into a Focus and finding the space saver tire in the bottom of the trunk they are ment for temporary use to limp your vehicle back to town the only thing that will make a differance just make sure you go at a slower speed.

Two questions.

1. For the OP. Is your truck equipped with a limited slip differential (LSD)?

2. Will a temporary spare burn out the LSD if used for long periods of time?

The reason I ask is that with AWD vehicles, a tire that is a different size than the others will cause damage the the viscus coupling(s) due to different tire rotation rates if driven like that for too long.

Why can't he just leave in 2WD for the drive back?

Future mods: roof rack to carry a kayak or two
not sure about others - maybe some exhaust mods that won't mess with Cali emissions.
