Sound and vibration are intermittent even at a cold start in idle ... There is some road noise mostly in 1 gear ,Also I noticed a few drops of tranny fluid on the underbelly ...????? thanks

Well then it's probably somethin with your transmission if it's leaking, is it a manual or auto?

I have this same problem on my 2.3 '93 XLT. Mine also has a bad 5th gear as well, loud as hell when I'm on the highway.

Mine also does this, it's the shift rail plugs. Mine doesn't leak enough to need to be topped off in between changes, but I change mine often due to my 5th gear issue.
