Nice! that was funny listening to the dude on the phone. Kudos to you knowing how to pull a truck out (not like that other video with the bumper falling off)lol, i would put a heavy blanket over the chain next time you do it though, especially if its really cold, the chain might break

Default chain temperature

Nice Video.

so...putting a heavy blanket over a cold chain would do what? That would be like putting a blanket on the milk jug in the refrigerator... insulating something that doesn't put off heat won't keep it any warmer.

Also, the better plan would be to just use the chain within its designed capacity. It will be designed for its rated load down to -20F....don't overload the chain, chain won't break.

LOL i think he meant put a blanket over it so that IF it breaks and it flies back towards your truck the blanket could possibly keep the chain from denting/breaking stuff on your truck. i dont think he meant keep the chain warm

yeah you put a blanket on a chain or winch cable in case it breaks it takes the force and drops the cable to the ground instead of slinging it into the truck, but in that case it is not like he is jerking the truck out of a mud hole that he is buried in. All he is doing is just pulling him off of a slick spot. No need for blankets or anything else.

I love pulling big trucks with the Ranger. My roommates 77 Chevy wouldn't start at -30 when we were moving apartments. I stuck my truck in 4lo since we also had 12 inches of snow and pulled it the mile to the new place. lol then this last tuesday I pulled a Dodge half ton into the shop at school with the tranny and brakes locked up lol. good times.
