Default Black Chrome Diff Cover Installed!!!

Got the old one off and the new Black Chrome one swaped out today in 35 degree temps! Took about an hour but looks great!

Heres the pics from stock to new...

Old cover

Draining stock fluid with 75,000 miles on it...

Differential all opened up and still draining

Cleaning out the remaining fluid and cleaning gunk with brake parts cleaner

Cleaned differential

New cover on!

Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90 fluid going in!

Diff cover on and running great!

This is what it looks like fron half a car length back

So im very happy with how the new Black Chrome looks on the axle and the royal purple in it should be awesome for the truck's health and life.

And heres the cost of the project...

New steel diff cover: $18.00
Cover Black Chromed: $65.00
3 Quarts of RP 75W-90: $60.00
Silicone Gasket: $ 7.00
-------------------------------
Total Cost: $150.00

Looking good, but you should have put a can of undercoat to that axle before you swapped the covers! would have saved you some work on masking that one up.

Ive still got the stock cover so i couls just drain the Royal Purple, put the stock cover on, spray the whole thing, put the new cover back on, and then run the RP back into it.

That was actually my next plan! I tried to take it off but the damn bolts wont come off, not even with air tools! Did you just mask of and paint it or were you able to get it off?

just painted it, it is down enough not to get any on the bumper but I don't have to worry about overspray since my truck is black. So just tape it off with some plastic and get after it
