okay, cool. I had wondered before about the rough and "textured" black paint or even a light roll on liner... ill probably just stick to some flat black as well.

Wally world is the best place to go here too. They usually have everything that advanced auto has and more for cheaper. im tired of looking at that ugly ass rust colored tow hitch!

Okay I really need to change the fluids in the diff. Never knew I could do that lol. How did you do it and also when it comes to undercoating the bottom can I use such stuff for the axles? Thanks

realy easy to drain it just loosen the bolts and crack the seal ...
it stinks like ass..... Once drained remove the bolts and cover, clean the gasket material off the cover and diff, reseal with RTV sealant, remove the filler plug located on the front of the diff and refill ........
should only be 3qts of oil

Sweet I got it now thanks for that really. What kind of gear oil should I use? I have about 131 thousand miles and yet running real strong. So some in a inexpensive price range but still good for the gears and all. Thanks

75W-90 is what I used for the rear end. If you want inexpensive then dont do Royal Purple like me. That stuff was $20 a quart ($60 total)! I always used to use Amsoil in them but thats not cheap either. If you have a L/S or locker in your rear end then make sure the fluid already has friction modifier or you put some in with the gear oil. The RP comes with it already. I personally have RP in everything except the transmission (which will have it soon) and it works great! Strongest stuff on the market.

Thanks man! When it gets warmer and after I get my next paycheck im gonna get some good paint and undercoating and do that. Already spent my extra money from the last check on a new steel tailgate handle and spark plug wires. Once the axle is truely black then the diff cover will really stand out!

What can you use that's safe for the back axle like undercoat or regular black spray paint? Also how can I tell if I have a L/S or a locker in my diff?

A lot of skinny pedal, or check your axle code (it'll be on the label in the drivers side door jam) F4, F6, F7, R5, R6, R7, and R8 have a limited slip diff.

That black chrome diff cover looks great on your truck! I want one

Well, you wouldnt have a locker unless you installed it aftermarket but CUTiger was spot on with the how to tell if you have a L/S. And for paint im not positive. I just know that I will personally only put the best stuff I can find on my truck... its my baby! lol
