Took it in and this is the progress.

Bed is off and has been wire brushed, pressure cleaned, and has been treated with
POR-15's prep kit.






Going to lift up cab to paint underneath, everything that is metal is getting painted, that includes under the cab itself. Some pieces needed to be replaced, break lines, my spare tire & mount and some leaf spring shackles.



New spare tire plate thing, and new shackles. Painting skid plate

Old one was in pretty bad shape..



The back panel on the bed had rusted out, so it was replaced.

Where the bed bolt hole was patched.



Part of the rear of the frame has been painted with the first coat.

But yea when it was my fathers he always used it in the winter, that was the only vehicle with 4x4. Plus the guy who owned it before us put a cheap undercoating on it and the old undercoating held the moisture in. The whole frame is still solid, its not as bad as it looks.

We call it the "cancer" it is all bubbly and spreading, but we caught it in time to fix

Salt is no excuse tho.
I live in Minnesota, and have to deal with the salty winters.
My truck is a 99, that's 3 years older than yours, and mine doesn't have that much rust.
I wash mine religiously.
Gotta wash it often, weekly, or twice a week, in the winter.
My local self serve is $1.50, and sometimes i hit the auto was for $7.00 and give her the special treatment.

But once i get my other ranger running, my red one is going to be torn apart and getting the POR15 treatment and some new parts.

Keep up the good work man, get jt nice and keep it nice.

Can't wait to see the finished project, keep the pics coming.

Thanks, and i cant wait till its done either. Gonna put some rock liner stuff on the rocker panels to prevent rocks from chipping the paint, check out my project thread.

Im also gonna get some bedliner and possibly repaint it , has a ton of dents and the paint is fading.

My 99 was sold new in 99 in NC and has been in NC since and has nowhere near that much rust. No rust on exterior. From what I see on the frame hardly any.
