1997 Ford Ranger "Rebel SE" - Rebel?
Hello! I'm new here, but I share your interest in that lovely piece of engineering for Ford! My Grandpa bought me a 1997 Ford Ranger "Rebel SE" for Christmas. The best Christmas present ever!
I'm just wondering though, what on earth does the "Rebel" mean? It's a Ford Ranger XLT with a 4.0L V6.. but I can't find anything special about the "Rebel" part, beyond the stickers..

That's kind of what I'm thinking, however, there was one advertised in British Columbia that was also a "Rebel".
Oh well, makes it more unique, right?

Sometimes Canadian rangers were weird. It might be some package that's known as something else here in the states.

From a .ca website
"RANGER COMES IN FOUR TRIM LEVELS: BASE S, XL, XLT AND SPLASH.
YOU CAN ALSO THROW IN THE REBEL YOUTH PACKAGE, WHICH COMBINES THE BRAWNY LOOKING FLARE SIDE BOX WITH SPECIAL WHEELS AND TIRES."
Though yours is fleetside, this could explain somewhat what your truck is. Probably just a form of package on an XLT Ranger.

well, I don't know about the "Rebel" but here in Minnesota, at various times of the Rangers existance, the Minnesota dealers would "mock up" a ranger with little trinkets (special colors, badges, wheels) and call it the "Northland edition" Ranger
