Honestly would rather have a Noble. More horsepower from a smaller motor, and keeping it in the Ford family.

Well, the insurance company totaled it. I think I want to buy it back and fix it though. Anybody here gone through buying a car back? know whats involved? I haven't been able to find another one thats what I want like this one is, and I can't afford the payment of buying a new one, so I need advice on how to go about this.

Talk with the insurance company, they totaled it and now they own it. They are very easy because they have no use for it. Go for it.

thay should ask you if you want it back. if you say yes thay give you only a piece of what it is worth and you keep it and fix it. did thay give you a quoit on what it was worth ? and find out what other trucks in the shape that one was in are selling for so you have an idea if thay try to screw you

John, what's the lowest value of the truck on KBB? Reason I ask is that most of the time, salvage value is a certain percentage of that. I've seen wrecked trucks that in street condition are valued at $8000, sold for salvage for less than $1500. Some as little as $500.

Good luck man....I think it'll be fun to give the truck a new lease on life.

I'm curious how all this works too. Like....since they own it after they total it, do they cut you a check for it's worth. Then you can buy it off them? Or do you pay out of pocket for the truck outright? So it's like your paying for the truck twice and you're left with a wrecked truck. That's the case with a paid off vehicle right? I can understand a nice payday on a vehicle with a TON of payments left.

I had my car totaled last year by a flying manhole cover, freak accident. The insurance didn't ask me if I wanted the car, just cut me a check. The car was paid off so I didn't have to share it.

I have to agree. It's just a truck. As much as we all love our vehicles.

Take the $ from the insurance and run.

I like animals too, the look tasty on a grill! JK. I like dogs, used to have them as a kid.

They haven't made an offer yet, but I've decide what I want out of it. My last payment clears tuesday, so the truck is payed for. I figure They'll offer me around 6K for it, then I'll have to haggle the rest out of them. We'll find out, and I'll keep y'all posted.

Yeah, I just have to haggle the price I want for the truck first. I know I can get it functional for a few hundred, but what would I have to do before they'll issue the rebuilt title? Can I drive it while I finish fixing it up?

heres how it goes down considering i just went through this. they tell you what the car is worth based on everything in it, all its options, and also based on how much the truck is worth in your area, no based on KBB. then they offer you an amount to sign the pink over to them, or another amount to keep the truck.

for example, my eclipse was totalled completely. they offered me 10,700 to give up the car, or 9800 to keep it. i kept it, and sold it later on my own to company to rebuild it for 1500
