Default Wisconsin snow

It snowed like 2 feet here and got to test out my 4wd works awsome. Although i have a question my ranger makes some wierd banging noises when you shift into 4wd sometimes and you can also feel it through the steering wheel is this normal?. Also it does it when its in 2wd at a complete stop not moveing the steering wheel im lost as to what it could be.

It could possibly be the ball joints binding up on you. If you are sitting and turn the wheel, does it like clunk every couple of degrees?
