The motor and transmission will work fine with that set up. 2wd and 4wd models to my knowledge are very similar as far as the drive line goes, minus the front diff, transfer case and some suspension components.

But honestly, by looking at it, if I didn't know it was only 2wd, I would have assumed it was 4wd.
So you can probably pull it next to a 4wd ranger and the two would be about the same height and stuff. People would assume both trucks would be 4wd.

I'm up in Minnesota, aka MinneSNOWta, lol.
All the snow and ice, 4x4 makes a difference.

My first truck was a 95 Ranger 2.3L 4banger, 5speed, reg cab, and I got it in 2000 I think.
Drove it till 2005. It sucked it the snowy winters, but I loved it in the summer, and great gas mileage. Got my ext cab 4wd in 2005. Love the 4wd in the winter, and when I go mudding in the summer.
My atvs do most of the mudding, but every now and then I will get the ranger covered in mud.

sounds good to me ahah my brother has a little 4 banger, i only get to beat on the ranger in dirt a little when i go dirtbiking but thats 2 hours of traffic filled with morons away, and kind of a weird question but since you live in Minnesota... do you know who slug from atmosphere is??
