My opinion?

1- your truck really, really looks great man.

2- paint the grill back in its original grey

3- dont paint the lower balance

4- In fact... remove the original lower balance, and replace it with the "STX" one, with the two round fog lights.

Leave all that alone and just paint the chrome piece going over the headlights. That is what will bring it together.

Doing the lower valence looks good, though I only did one of the two parts in this old photo from 1997.

Doing it all red looks good if it is ALL RED as in this photo from 1999.

For were the truck is right now the red lower valence and grey grill will be best until I can make more changes than just the grill.

Despite our advises and suggestions or opinions, the most important thing is that YOU like it.

In my opinion... you own a 97... keep the original look of a 97, dont try to "imitate" newerer models... our gens are great looking trucks...

stay oem... I mean, modified... but dont loose the original look

hell I love your truck!!! Can you please let me know how did you complete remove the upholstery of your seats???? mine needs a deep wash!!!

That first picture in the above post was 08/26/1997. The only thing I'd be imitating is my own truck long before anything existed but the 1997 ranger (which was 3 months old at the time). In the second picture in 1999 the truck has a straight blue dash because it was a 1993. All of this 11 years ago before Ford decided to do a "Sport" model.

you'll see once you flip it upside down. It just locks onto the frame. There is velcro to release inside once you have it unclipped from the frame.

negative, it looks badass man. But like the others said, the chrome grill surround needs to be red. But leave the valance black. It will be TOO much red if you paint the valance red too.

Here's a rough idea of what the lower valence would look like when done.

I'm with STL, I think it looks great in the pictures, job well done. But the chrome surround is like "whats that doing there" with that piece red it will look cleaner. I'd leave the valance though, give it a month and it will be all jacked up from road debris and look trashy.
