easy, its held on by 6 bolts that i weatherproofed the hell out of. (lots of silicone) a yakima basket will mount to it without issue, the clamps do exactly that and clamp to it with ease.

thats not bad, I used car paint in can (use a brush) and it took almost 6 hours to dry on my engine cover.

I have heard of people using nail polish and a toothpick to fill in the grooves so I wanted to try it but it's impossible to find my color in a nail polish so I used the pen side of a touch up bottle to fill in the grooves. It was a bitch keeping the ball up so the ink could flow but I got the hang of it... I recommend the nail polish route though 'cause you could use the brush and then use acetone to remove any that went over the edges.

That's the piping for the door inserts on a mustang. Bought a few feet of it a few years back to see if I could find a good place to put it and that's where it ended up.
