Today's Carshow pics.....
As you all know I went to a carshow and swap meet today. They had alot of killer cars and I took a huge amount of photos of just about everything there. I didn't get alot of the vehicles because there were too many to photograph. So rather than spend about all night posting IMG codes of photos, I moved them all to another album and created a slide show for you guys so enjoy.
http://s299.photobucket.com/albums/m...view=slideshow
every year around memorial day and sometimes on memorial day they hold at least one or 2 carshows which I enjoy walking through and asking about people's rides. I'd hate to be a judge at one of these shows, cause I could never pick who'd win cause they're all winners in my book. I'll be uploading some more carshows as they happen in the near future.

That was one of my favorites. It's actually an F100 Ranger which is alot different. I wouldn't want to put fuel in though. He's got a 460 in there with a CR ratio that is so high that he has to fill up at an airport. And you ought have heard that White 72 Vega with a 454 in it. It has no muffler or pipes. Nothing but the headers only man.

That is a true 1969 camaro, not that rolling turd they try to say looks like a 69 camero. They did have "Elanor" there and several shelby cobras too, but we see those alot around here.

Oh it was. Too bad I didn't win that engine. And what really upset me the most was that was a small amount of pics I got of parts that they had for sale and I had no money to buy anything. They had complete 383 stroker kits, headers, cams, completely assembled intake kits, carbs. The only things missing was engine blocks and trannys. But they still had the oil pans for them though. I just wish I has some damn money to buy some of that stuff.

Sounds like they had just about everything! Very cool! Yeah, it really does suck when you see all this awesome stuff, and can't buy any of it. It drives me nuts!

Re: Today's Carshow pics.....
That inspires me to get started on my "operation frankenstein" project. I did have to switch to plan B, cause the engine I was looking at was sold today along with the tranny. He'd swore he would hold it for me and give it to me for free if I bought the tranny, but someone made him an offer he couldn't refuse and after thinking about it for a little while, it wouldn't have worked out mechanically and there would be way too much fab work invloved just to get it to fit. I managed to find an actual P-51 Mustang engine called "The Merlin" which was used in WW2. Since it wouldn't have worked and was sold, I decided to let the cat out of the bag.

Oh they did have alot of stuff going on there. Too bad I didn't win that 350 SBC today either. That also drives me crazy. The intake systems they had were made by Quickfuel, those are some damn good carbs and manifolds.

Re: Today's Carshow pics.....
Yeah, I hate when people go back on their word, I guess it was a little less sickening that he sold it out from under you, since it would have been a lot of fab work. But it is still no fun when someone does that to you. Sounds like it would have been very cool though! I'll bet that was a cool looking engine being that old!

Goodnight my friend. Yeah that Merlin engine back in the 1940's was putting out roughly about 1,600 horses and god knows how much torque. it was a liquid cooled V12 made by Packard and Rolls Royce used in alot of Fighter planes for the allies during WW2. In 1943 they said it would well over 450 mph at 25,000 feet. That would've been bad assed if I could've made it work and had enough money to do it. Plus the engine had siezed up and needed so much work that I may not have been able to get it to run at all. So I guess in one way a bit disappointed but glad in another way cause the bill to have that engine repaired would've been off the page to say the least.

Now that's what I call a real engine right there! Amazing! I totally hear ya about the cost, labor, and time it would have taken, so I guess it sorta worked out for the best. Very cool to think about though! Talk to ya later!

Yeah the idea woke me from a deep sleep. That was an engine to say the least. It was a huge engine. To learn more about it you can goolge it, or you can do what I do and buy some WW2 aircraft dvd's and documentaries. They had alot of stuff listed in those dvd's I recently bought. Here's a scary thought, The old pilots that are still living, that flew both the P-51 Mustang and the P-47 Thunderbolt say that the P-47 would go over 470 mph at 25,000 feet. They said it was faster than a P-51 Mustang! and the guns used in the aircraft would shoot well over 800 rounds a minute and they used rockets too (early version of today's missiles). They said the P-51 Mustang had one problem, if you lost koolant you were done, and it couldn't take the abuse that the P-47 Thunderbolt could either. Good night man.
