Default Finally after 5 months....NEW TRUCK!

Finally after 5 months I was able to get the DMV issues squared away and buy my 1997 Ranger STX 4x4. Truck has 141 on the clock, from Virginia. 4.0L OHV 4x4. Truck paint isn't to shabby, nothing I can't take care of with the buffer. I plan on plasti-dipping all plastic outside the body black, level it, throw on some 15" M/T Sidebiters wrapped in 32" BFG KM2 and have all the windows 5%. I have a couple questions though, the truck runs really rough, has a bit of a lag to it, but no codes are being thrown, it idles real low dips down to 0 then up to 500. I want to change all filters, fluids etc on it, do you guys think this rough idle issue will be solved by cleaning out the MAF, IACV as well as doin plugs & Wires, & Filters? any insight or suggestions are welcomed.
Oh yeah and my '99 stepside i sold to my older brother, so now theres two Ranger's sittin in our driveway haha

Being that it's a used vehicle, I would recommend running a thing of seafoam through it, and see how many issues that corrects.

Very nice truck but it has a 4.0L OHV unless the guy did a new style motor swap

Man, your story reminds me of the 95-97 STX i'm trying to get. It's just sitting, and the guy has the story that he's gonna fix it, but we both know he's not. Truck looks just like yours except it's red. Everything else is the same. Glad you finally got yours squared away.

As far as your dipping idle, that sounds like the IAC valve has failed. Cleaning it probably isn't gonna help you. They're usually about $45 at the parts house.

Mine did the same thing, and it is also caused by a dirty MAF. My IAC did take a dump on me a year later, but cleaning the MAF cleared it up the first times it happened.

Cleaning the Maf is more effective than cleaning the IAC. I was only referring to the IAC.

lol, no problem. I think cleaning the IAC is only effective if you clean it before it fails.

Nice looking truck.

Pretty clean for it's age. Does it have a lot of rust on the frame?
