ease of working on them engine/suspension wise. Regular balljoints compared to control arms and all that junk. engines werent as complicated either. Plus the 3rd gens got the 4.0L with all the bugs worked out of them.

I do. Its been off twice since I had the truck. Once to replace the factory bumper (that i fubar-ed in the crash) with an aftermarket bumper. That lasted one winter and started to rust, so i found an OEM ford one at the junkyard and picked that up and replaced the aftercrap one with that. I like the look of the truck without it so when its off, i sport around without it. I have since put it back on.
