LOL... yeah.. there wasnt any pad left... i ended up loosing that little rod that comes out of the brake cylinder so i started loosing brake fluid everywhere... thats when i knew it was time to replace them...

Dang guys, i've never seen rear shoes in that bad of shape.

FYI, the rear drum brake service tool kit is a MAJOR need for doing drums. I can't count on my hands and toes the amount of people I know who have done drum brakes without the kit and have come to hate them. I LOVE doing rear drums, and find it extremely easy thanks to the service kit. I recommend it to all of you ladies who are afraid to do your drums. They're not even remotely hard to replace. For $40 and a case of Pepsi(Beer when i'm 21) i'll gladly replace drum brakes all day.

i did them myself with just regular hand tools and i didnt find them that hard to do... i actually kinda enjoyed it... just had them resurfaced and then put new pads on. The hardest part is those blasted springs... and i had trouble getting my drum off...

no... it forces the pad against the outside of the drum... not sure exactly what the technical term is for it... It slips inside the brake cylinder...
