Default Put my stripes on!

I ussaly wouldn't post with only one weekends work, but I am a bit too excited to hold this back.
I got all my decals in, and a replacement tailight and went to work this weekend.
I really like the look of this. I only have a bit more I want to do to the exterior (for now). I want to paint all the chrome (bumpers, and hubcaps) to match the body. And also paint the plastic pieces and the valences on the bumpers black.

For those of you who will say something about the tailghts: The color still comes through in it's original color, and it is easily visible at 1000 feet back (this is the law in kansas).

Rocker stripes were found here: ROCKER PANEL STRIPES Side Racing Decal for FORD MUSTANG:eBay Motors (item 350250908363 end time Sep-16-09 20:20:03 PDT)

Unfortunatly, because of the angle of the rocker panel, the panel ussualy reflects the ground and they don't show up too well. Where as, on a mustang the rocker panels are fairly vertical.

And the racing stripes are from jcwhitney. 20 bucks for 20 ft.

How do you apply the stripes?

Dansdecals.com/application

That pretty much sums it up for both the rocker and the racing stripes. At first I had doubts about application without wetting solution, but it worked fine. I used up about 5 feet of stripe getting the hang of it though.

At first, the stripes look awfully bad because there are lots and lots of bubbles. Many of the bubbles will work there way out in a few days, and the others can be popped with a small needle and the air can be pushed out. Then after the vinyl sits in the sun for a while, you can't notice the pinhole at all.

Also, the rocker stripes were much easier to apply than the racing stripes because of the width difference.

Very nice man! Looks like it was a PITA to do the stripes on the grille. Goin to do the tonneau or leave it?

Well, I did the grill last, so I had some experiance by then. It is very frustrating when you start. I'm sure you can imagine why I have part of a stripe ripped up into little pieces.

My mom's hair dryer (once again I'm 16), worked nicely to form the vinyl around the tailgate latch and the grill.

As for the tonneau, I decided not to stripe it. The reason being: I park this beast outside, and morning dew gets all over the tonneau and it never looks to great anyways. Also, I thought that 6ft of stripe without any breaks or twists or something would be a little bland.

When you did the grille did you remove the insert and wrap it around the back a little or did you just put it up against the insert? Either way it looks good.

Hmmm, your truck looks purty good, but with that estranged hood gap someone should fiber some FFF's for smooth rangers. . . Any fiber guys?

Not too shabby, you should drop it a bit, close up that fender gap.
