Hurst FTL
If you have a Hurst, don't run a pistol grip! My arm just broke today at the base of the threads. The customer service guy said the added length of the pistol grip puts more leverage on the threads. the base of the threads is the thinnest part of the whole arm. So stick with a ball or T handle.

Re: Hurst FTL
Good to know....i've always wanted to get a pistol grip on mine, but as afraid the angle of the grip wouldn't be to comfortable to shift with...

Re: Hurst FTL
it took a bit to get used to it, but i loved the way it felt. i still have the ball, may do that or try a t-handle.

Re: Hurst FTL
Can you grind off the top section where the threads were, drill & tap the arm for a hardened bolt to go into the pistol grip?

i probably could, but where it broke is the thinnest part of the arm. so it would have to be even smaller than it was originally.

not this time. too much snow here for that. i had gotten temporarily stuck in my yard, so i went back to get it out. went to put it in 1st and it felt funny, and went to put it in gear again and it just broke off. i have beaten on it some, but not today when it broke.

Re: Hurst FTL
yeah, should work. the website lists 88-05. the big thing you'll have to watch is the vent situation on the shifter. if it isn't vented right, it'll force tranny fluid up the speedo cable and start dripping under the dash. i didn't think mine was leaking, but after pulling the console out today, i saw that it is.
