True. But you have very low miles, that one is paid off, and you use it alot.....I'd keep it probably if I were you.

True. But I only use it to tow the trailer, once I get a stronger hitch for the FX4, I can use it. I don't even use the Edge to go out to town, I use the FX4. The Edge gets horrible gas mileage, I'm always having to put at least $10 gas into it everytime I go out. It's a single cab so I don't have much room for grocery or anything like that, I could put a toolbox or a tonneau but is it worth it? The FX4 is a good truck (knock on wood), if it breaks down...I could always DD the Mustang which I'm fine with because it gets almost double MPG than the trucks.

Re: Lets see your Ranger loaded up!
What are your thoughts about a 99 ranger 3.0 4x4 with 410 gears pullin a 3,100lb expandable camper. I would have sway control and weight distribution hitch along with break control. Tranny will be rebuilt and new torque converter ment for towing.

That's within what Ford says you can pull, but it's probably gonna be hard on the truck, 3,000lbs is a substantial load, especially for a 3.0. How often do you plan on towing it?

Once every few weeks during the summer. We r looking at getting another truck next year that would be used to pull camper and my truck would be used to pull trailer with 4 wheelers on it.

I did about 3000lbs +/- one summer towing around a double axle lawn trailer. It was around the city so no highway experience. I'd say its possible. What's your plan on how often you will be towing it and such. Just need you make sure you are set up properly for it. Also if you don't have a aal or helper spring I would buy them

I'd think you'd be alright then, you've got the right idea with the trailer brakes. If the trailer has a lot of tongue weight, an aal might not be a bad idea. A more accurate engine temp gauge probably wouldn't hurt either, but it's not a must.

Truck already has helper springs on it. I was thinking about putting a oil cooler on it along with up grading my tranny cooler with a bigger one.
----------
Hitch weight is only 287lb

I towed that trailer with a hurt trans and it did fine even being hurt. Tranny cooler may not be a bad idea. Just make sure you have a proper hitch/ correct drop so the camper sits level and the weight is put on the trailer axle and not your truck. You should be good. Ask the trailer place if you can take it down the road to see how it tows ?

That's not bad for tongue weight, sounds like the trailer is pretty balanced. I thinks you will be ok pulling it, just keep an eye on your gauges and listen for any out of the ordinary sounds or behaviors.
Trucks that came with an auto and a towing pkg also came with a tranny cooler behind the grille.
