I need to put a rack on my 2009 Ranger 4X4 with a cab high topper. I need to carry lumber at times and I also need to carry a 12 foot long Kayak. I can get a Yakima or Thule rack at work but I am thinking a metal lumber rack might work better. I don't know what that would cost. Any advice?

not sure about others - maybe some exhaust mods that won't mess with Cali emissions.

Well if you dont mind drilling hole in your topper you could always get a roof rack from an explorer or any truck youd like at a wreck yard, I got one from a Cherokee for 15$ I think. As for basket hf has cheap one as im assuming your in the US.

I had a rack made for mine. Used 1 1/2" square steel tubing. Mounted it directly to the topper.
