Hahahahahaha exactly. I care about the projects I do and I don't mind reading and learning how to do things right but honestly I ran that radio without a ground for the longest time without issues to my knowledge, then read that and was like what?! So I put a ground on it and called it good. If I ever get done with medic school I am going to get a HAM license and a portable radio anyway. Like I said I only use mine for the weather mostly, so I'm probably a poor example. If I didn't have the mount and the cable ran I would probably kist ditch the CB. but since it's already done and it's whatever. Do need to ditch the antenna and just toss a simple fiberglass one back on. This one is overkill.

It seems childish and dumb at first but I'm glad I got them. Its worth it just to be able to switch between white light and red light. The dimmer is nice too. Everything else is just a novelty lol (like the other colors and strobe function)

Personally I run two sets of LED strips in my cap: Interior and Cargo. The Interior Light is the color changing model and operates on a manual "hallway" style switch (one in the cap and one in the cab). The Cargo light is white only and operated automatically by a mercury tilt switch mounted on the glass, with two inline kill switches; one in the cab and one in the cap. The cargo light is also wired to a on/off delay relay so it needs to be "ON" for 2 seconds before the light activates (keeps the bumps in the road from messing with the tilt switch and making the lights flicker), and the light shuts off after 5 minutes automatically.

They offer great light and last for a while if you take care of them. The adhesive on the back is supposed to be 3M but I run a bead of Loctite on them anyway. They can but cut at 3" intervals, but soldering between the cut sections can be a PITA sometimes. Also if you get the silicon encased waterproof version, the silicon tends to get very brittle in the cold to the point of cracking if you try moving it. If the light is mounted and you aren't moving it, you're fine. Ive had my LEDs in the cap for about a year and a half now with no issues.

I get all my LED's off of ebay. Search for 5m LED strip (5 meter long reel). They come in different colors and densities, like 300 LED's/meter or 600 LED's/meter. I've got soft white and color changing ones in the cap, bright white and red for my taillight bar, white under the door and in the foot wells, and red and green throughout the cab. So far so good on everything.

Gotta love the red. I rarely use the white function when I'm camping now. Both can and shell

They're just magic'd to the wall, even I don't know how it works lol

Nah the fire extinguisher came with a mount that clips around the neck of the bottle. I added a small Velcro strap to secure it to the mount, and added a band strap around the middle of the bottle. The black strips are foam to keep it to protect it from banging around. You can see it better here after I re-did the sub mount and rotated it vertically:

The medkit was held to the wall by a piece of metal with the ends bent inward to grab and hold it in place. This same mount worked when I moved the it to the roof but I added a small bungee as extra security

Red is used at night because it enables you to see without compromising your night vision. It is at the lowest end of the light spectrum. Green, well, means GO! GET OUT OF THE CHOPPA!

But arent you supposed to run to the chopper, Governator hehe, I like the setup it does look cozy. Any issue in you area tho... might tempt some effing thieves.

Red is also very difficult to see from a distance as well. We use red on the ships because you can have the place lit up but it's harder to see at night vs. white light

So far so good, never had anything taken from my truck. My neighborhood I don't worry about but even going into Philly I've been lucky. The shovels on my cap are only held on by wing nuts and they haven't walked yet. Kept tons of gear in the cap for all to see and nothing disappeared from there either. That's just another plus to driving and old beat up truck - nobody expects to find anything of any real value inside lol

Hey Dennis! Do you have the emergency breathers that fall down from the ceiling when you get in a wreck or are going down. Lol

I dont know about chopper but I must say sea state 6 on a navy ship is awesome... Walking on the wall and waiting for the right time to let the hand rails go and end up at the top of the ladder is wicked hehe. Kinda miss it actually.

More stuff than I need from a light, but dim red is nice when camping (picture is bright red) Personally I like the purple because it reminds me of Tomorrowland in Walt Disney world. Go ahead and laugh but that atmosphere is relaxing
Did you need a power supply or is there a way to just connect these to the battery?

Dont mean to sound like a dick here, but you might wanna do some research on how to do wiring by the look of it, 12v is actually quite simple to wire and led strips do come in 12v. If you pick something ac power youll need and inverter plugged to a battery, but in my case I have a deepcycle battery in the box hooked to the charging system of the truck with a switch so it can charge when I drive around. I used it for a 12v cooler last summer and my computer fans, I use em to cool my face down at night theyre cheap and quiet.

It's not that I don't know how to do wiring... I've done a fair bit but my question was more because all the packages of the 5m rgb LEDs came with a power supply. I was just wondering if he got one and then just modded it or if there was actually one that came set for cars... But my question is no longer needing an answer as I just found one that I don't have to cut up so.... Just didn't really want to pay for something just to hack it up...
