Ouch. Time to lay down and rest. I see commercials on tv for it. I don't remember if there is some sort of cure/medicine for it

Oh ok, I didn't realize some of them are put together with screws. I assumed there were little tabs that locked on to the cross bars.

Hopefully I can get to the JY tomorrow and find one.

I meant drill new hole on the rails for the bracket, the explorer seems stonger then the cherokee one tho.

. Figure out what you want to steal a rack from and then research on what aftermarket crossbars are available. I will say I have two rack systems on my truck, one set are t-towers which sit up higher and are not as stable, but you could score those and then take them off whenever and a bracket is all that is left. I also have rail grabbers and those are pretty stout and low profile. Here is a photo of my t-towers. The bars themselves are super wide, but that's so I can haul two canoes if need be. image-2936180435.jpg And the bracket when the rack is off. image-365431447.jpg Also Craigslist is your friend. I bought my first rack a few years ago and use the heck out of it. My uncle gave me some wider bars last year, work great and are probably 15+ years old.

That would be Dennis or TB-9862. He has a system with multiple colors. I have white/red combo in the cab and shell.

I paid $200 to have my first one painted on my first ranger, but I'm sure it varies by area. I've heard some say upwards of $500. If you have any other questions on rack systems just ask. Always willing to help, or at least attempt to.

I was planning on taking an afternoon and doing it myself (with the help of my neighbor who has painted cars before) but as I was reading through this thread a noticed a comment about pulling the windows and trim when color matching a topper. I would rather do that than tape it off because I imagine it would turn out nicer. My question is how the heck do I pull the windows out? I'm sure there is a special tool or something... Also, does the trim get reused or replaced? I don't want a white topper with grey trim

I painted a truck cap for a ford F-150 and it used to be white and he went red but we didn't pull the Windows out or anything we just taped over the Windows then used SEM trim black on the trim and it came out nice

I have never pulled the windows out myself, but I have removed the internal trim. That's an 8mm socket on mine. Yours could be different. If it were me I would tape it off and paint, especially if there is someone with experience. I would bet that if you did remove the windows it would require all new weather stripping around them. Plus your breaking the water tight seal that has already been established, don't know how technical it is, but I would pissed if my windows forever leaked afterwards. Again my 2 cents means diddly considering I haven't done it.
