Neat, Ive seen a few guy on the expedition portal with a similar setup but with a rooftop tent instead of the basket.

Put my cap back on tonight .. I already miss the open bed
But this will give me a chance to mount and try out my new LED floodlights. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow

New Tuff LED flood lights on the rear and side. The side lights are mounted on telescoping poles:

Here's mine. I want to color match it and get a rack for it... Maybe some lights.

I don't really wanna pay $100+ for a rack. Anyone have a suggestion of a rack I could pull that would work with a stepside without much modification?

A lot of guys use the expo rack. I have a rack from a GMC Jimmy. $25-$35 is all you should have to pay for something like that. Get a nice sharp blade on a hacksaw and you should be able to cut it down. I would recommend making sure the side rails at least fit, then all you have to do is cut the crossbars down. This gives you an idea. Then
After you can ditch the cross rails and pick up new ones. Either way, new hardware and a junkyard rack would be a great start.

So side rails are pretty universal when it comes to putting different cross rails on?

When it comes to fitting the cross rails: the plastic parts that connect to the side rails just slide on and off? Or how does that work after the cross rails are cut?

The one from the cherokee have removal bracket at each end of the rails so you can cut them shorter if you need and remount them drilling new holes for the brackets.
