Ohh yea that would make sense lol. I'm thinking just butt a toolbox up against the window panel on the inside, make a frame going to the floor/fender, and then replace the window with a solid panel. Something to that effect

^ this. And in order to get it paint to match it was extra. Plus it's a cot, and it's awesome.

How long did you listen to the radio? I usually listen to mine 4 hours or so before the voltage drops below 12V.

hahaha dude its weird but I totally prefer the bed of my truck to my actual bedroom.

Got my air mattress and some pillows, lights, speakers, and the toolboxes make for nice little tables to hold my sodas and stuff. Its cozy when its all closed up haha

One between the box and the bed rail 9where its currently bolted) and then another drawer slide mounted on its side, underneath the toolbox to hold the weight. Haven't attempted anything yet but its an idea lol. Even then it would only bring the box out as far as the tailgate, and I'm sure the gas struts would be in the way of the lid or something ugh
If you had a long box like the casket with reinforced roller slides it could probly come about 3ft past the tailgate, just the trouble of finding the right roller slides... plus I think the casket would be badass to have riding back there with me... lol

I have considered an aluminum frame to do just that, but my priorities on the projects always changes. Right now I'm just tweaking what I've already done.

Agreed. I love camping out of the back. I would do an air mattress but I could never find one under 72"

If I didn't have 2 amps and subs running my system I could probly get four hour in, but when I jam out I JAM OUT, lol

I've gotten 7 hours of my head unit with the truck in "ON" (no amps or subs tho). The standalone speakers in my cap I leave on while I'm sleeping and I've never had them kill my battery...yet. lol

Nah I don't have enough tools to necessitate the casket type toolbox, altho they do look slick for a contractor truck or something. I like to leave the center area open for cargo and keep my gear off to the sides

haha I know what you mean .. I've been playing with a bunch of ideas for toolbox mounting, exterior awnings so I can work on the tailgate in the rain, new slide-out alley light mounts (so I can point the lights at a stuck tire while digging it out), and a few other ideas. But in the end I usually just end up spending the time and money to FIX something

I use a standard twin size air mattress and it fits perfectly between the wheel wells and fills front to back nicely. It hangs over the gate just a bit, but if you leave some slack in the mattress it will compress up once you shut the tailgate.

My factory tape player kept acting up so I turned that whole area into a secret compartment for stuff and just put in 2 amps, on for mids and one for bass. Got a headphone to rca adapter and I plug my cell straight into my amps, Pandora kicks FM radio ass. Plus free MP3 downloads so I got all the music I could ever want and NO head unit needed...

I'm a mechanic with dreams to be mobile mechanic, so the casket box is perfect for me though.. lol

Then do it! And be sure to show us how it turns out haha. I like having tons of gear and still have a large open cargo area; sometimes I wish I had one of those utility bodies. I know they make them for ranger lol

Well the overhang is maybe an inch or two past the gap for me. Maybe you could mount a board at the bottom edge of the opening to squeeze the mattress. Or just use the cot you already have that fits back there. That'd be the easy option haha

I'd run a ratchet strap, instead of strapping it to the back I'd strap it along the side though. Keep you from having to crawl in an out as much bro...

I will be buying ratchet straps, I would only have to get to one box and that would be my camping gear.
