haha thats awesome tho, the forum is working! And definitely put some lighting back there. My setup is a real PITA with all the switches and extra accessories and I had to pull everything apart and run dozens of wires all over the place. I even made a wire diagrams to try and help me:
But if you just do a basic on/off swtch in the back its simple enough, and the reuslt is so cool
And here's another nifty idea thats camper shell related for all you roof rack guys:
|
lol yeah after seeing you're setup i wanted to do something that would allow me to keep my junk organized back there while not taking up all my bed space. took me about 20 minutes to figure out what i wanted to use but once i did it worked great, everything has a place. tools and related stuff go in the larger toolbox, chains & straps in the smaller metal one and cloths and things that should be clean go in the small tote. i'm thinking my next 3 projects are gonna be LED cargo lights like you've got hooked to an on / off switch, an LED 3rd brakelight upgrade, and some clamps to hold my shovel eather to the celing of the cap or up on the side above the wheel wells.
oh and holy hell you've got some complex wireing going on there, lol. it's an awsome setup when you've got it working though!

Thanks! I appreciate the compliments/attention especially since your truck is what inspired me! Its like making a sci fi movie and having George Lucas go to the midnight show haha
I'd say check out my build thread, but I think there are too many pictures so the page might not load correctly. Also haven't updated in a while due to page not loading lol
You can try tho!

I'm also working on a new set up for my tool box. I moved out of the barracks on base so I wanted more room.
Actually gonna buy one of those husky tool boxes($34 can't beat it)
And then I'm gonna do a drawer system, it'll be a drawer about same size as the box and i want that to slide out, kinda like yours does in the back, and then on top mount the tool box to a shelf that slide out also, with enough room to the side to mount a much useful visef

Definitely can't beat $34, why do you think I bought two? haha
That sounds pretty cool, can't wait to see it come together man!

Yea .. sorry about that. I got carried away with the pictures lol
And yes get a picture I'm wondering how you have them mounted and such. A nice set up really does make the cap more appealing. I hated it when I first bought the truck, but since it has its usefulness i didn't want to sell it (live at home nowhere to take it off and store it). So I figured i might as well make the most of it and outfit it with goodies

lol i wouldin't say you got carried away with the pics they just need to be spaced over a few pages! i had to let my computer sit for 20 minutes with a pic of you're drivers seat frozen on the screen, lol.
right now the setup i've got for my storage boxes dosin't have anything permently mounted, i can pull the cap off in about 20 minutes if i need to. the carpet i put in the truck bed really helps keep things from moving around though, i know you've got a rug in yours but i would definitly reccomend some leftover house carpet cut to fit around the wheelwells in the bed, best thing i ever coulda done!

I just use bungee straps. But I have Herculiner in my bed, so I wouldn't want to cover up that hard work.

i bet with the herculiner it hurts less to climb up in and out of there than a plastic liner too!

When I had the one from my dad's '97 on, before putting on the Access roll-up tonneau.

haha I have thought of adding a bunch of "empty space" posts to spread it out. And that sucks, I didn't even have the heated seats in for you to admire in that picture
And the only reason I put a rug in mine is because I bought an area rug to cut up for my cab storage box and center console and I needed somewhere to keep the leftover rug until I finished them. So into the bed it went and I ended up liking the look and its a lot easier on the knees than the ridges of the bed liner. I've got D rings bolted to the floor in the 4 corners so a rug that wraps around the wheel wells wouldn't work for me, but it does sound nice!

Like how my shovel is mounted?
It's Quick-Fist clamps with fender washers and rubber washers inside.

Before I got my truck, I had my shovel mounted on my SUV roof rack. I was always worried about it being stolen. I do like your setup though
