I am looking to get one for my truck from craigslist, just haven't found one yet. My question is MPG, has anyone kept track if their gas mileage gets better, worse, or stays about the same? I imagine it would go up a bit but I am not sure. If I lost a little MPG I think I would still get one.

i have the 4.0 and i didnt notice a difference in mpg. it definitely makes it ride better over bumps!

would it make it ride better over bumps because the extra weight evenly spread over the bed?

just weight behind the cab period helps with the better ride. im not really sure how much it weighs but my guess would be about close to 175lbs?

Thanks, hope to get a few more answers so I can get an "average" answer. Wonder if it matters when it comes to engine size. BTW, I am really only curious about the shells that are the same height as the cab, I won't be getting one that stick up in the rear. They look a little odd on a truck that small, lol.

yea they would. my mpg stays the same. i have the 3.0L. i think it makes better milage because the aerodynamics improve with the shell, but the weight cancels it out so youre gettin the same.

My mileage was terrible before the canopy and is still just as miserable after adding the canopy.
So about the same

Thanks, I feel better about getting one now. I was hoping I would get better but as long as it doesn't get worse then I am AOK.

I have racks on mine too and i dont get any worse mileage so you will be fine. Its such a nice thing to have for extra dry space. i love it.
