The warranty would probably cover 1 replacement battery. But the engineer I talked to who I working on it said they are already working on the next version of the battery which will last longer and hopefully be smaller.

I'm not buying one, but I just thought I'd show you guys what I saw and what I learned
What you learned is very cool, not trying to shit on you. I just hate hybrids.

What's more confusing is that this isn't a hybrid. It's a EV (electric vehicle) the gas motor in no way drives the car. It's has 2 electric motors for all that. The gas motor just runs the generator

I may be wrong, but isn't it a hybrid because it has both gasoline and electric motors?

Hybrid means that the gas motor contributes to the driving of the car.

EV means the electric motors do all the driving

The ford fiesta gets 40MPG for 1/4 the price of the volt. Its a waste if you ask me. Nobody is going to spend that kinda money for a volt just for 40MPG. The inside of that thing looks like they teamed up with Apple to build a custom Mac computer into the dash. It doesn't fit the inside of that car.

The Volt can go 40 miles without using any gas. That's not the same as 40 mpg

I'm sure a few of you have read about this thing. But I got a lot of info, some even that you guys don't know about.

So it has a gas motor driving the generator, and 2 electric motors, one running the front wheel and one charging the battery.

There is no mechanical drive, all electric. It has a very intricate clutch sytem.

0-60 in under 9 seconds. 3700lbs. 40 mpg avg. He drove it from Michigan to Missouri on one charge.

Any other questions just ask, or go look it up lol

I don't remember what he said, but he made it from Michigan to Missouri on one tank/charge.

i get what the point of these vehicles are but the problem is its a niche market. to the majority of people this type of vehicle is just not practical, especially at that price. dont get me wrong, i think this is a great technology and a step in the right direction but it is a long way from being a high selling vehicle alternative to what we have already. its too expensive, there are no studys to show how long one of these cars will last and not to mention, i could drive my gas guzzling truck for many years and still not use as much fossil fuels and resources that it takes to produce just one of these cars. in time they will get better im sure, but right now they are no more economical or earth friendly than any other vehicle in terms of looking at the whole process from build to fuel usage and power grid support to charge the batterys and such.

What's funny is that the engineer who brought the car told us he was only getting like 37 MPG.

He said the car would average only 40 MPG. He never even mentioned the 230 MPG.
