Fresh 31's! General Grabber AT2
Just got these 31's installed on my 2002 xlt 2wd. Looks like a real truck now! Plus the ride is soo smooth! A tiny loss in throttle response, but not dramatic.
They are General Grabber AT2. The tread look alot like the BFgoodrich A/T buy I like there sidewall better, the lower price, and the the black letter side looks sick. Another cool feature, is they are studdable. Being a snowboarder, (and this may be incorrect) I can bring studs along with me and if roads are icy, with a locker (ill have someday), I can hopefully get where I need to go. Just as fun fact, fourwheeler.com kind of hinted more quality from the general than BFg. http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...est/index.html
Stock wheels for now.
Before and after at Discount Tire. (It is off the ground about an inch still with the new tires, looks slightly lifted )

Re: Fresh 31's! General Grabber AT2
If you don't mind, how much did you end up paying? I bought 5 off of Tirerack.com a few years back and i think the price was around $600(included shipping) Had to pay someone to mount and balance. I had a lot of trouble with mine, wouldn't stay balanced, uneven tread wear, and not to mention they were load range E's and it made for a very stiff ride. I did rotate every oil change. Guy at the tire dealership told me to run them at 70psi! In the winter they would bounce my truck all over the place making for a hairy ride to work. I took them off road a few times and when I got into the think mud they wouldn't clean themselves out and I got stock. I got pulled out by a Taco and passed up by a stock FJ cruiser with AW tires. But I will say they look(ed) awesome on the Ranger. good luck, let us know how you like them. I might of just had a bad set. They're excellent in the snow.

Re: Fresh 31's! General Grabber AT2
I looked on tire rack originally who wanted only 121.00 a tire but they only had them in a east coast warehouse so it was gonna cost another almost 100 to ship, plus mounting them and balancing them. Discount was telling me 153.00 a tire, but their website said 140.00 so they matched that. I paid 703.00 out the door, without the discount lifetime coverage. The general has one of the best manufacturer warranties in the business.
I like the Bfg as well too but they are more expensive, but i love their mud terrains.. but not much mud out here unless it rains, which is rare. But I hate the white letters, dunno if they have a black letter side on the bfgs
The tires were an emergency purchase, the front tires that were on the truck when I bought it were warped because of the belts pullling apart. The truck vibrated like hell and to go straight I had to hold the wheel a quarter turn right.
Since these tires my ride has been unbelievably smooth. My alignment is spot on, wheel centered is straight and it will go straight a good distance with out my help. Supposedly, according to a review the one thing they arent good at is sticky mud, but hey they arent a true mud tire so you cant have it all! Maybe you were talking about a different tire, i have only seen good reviews. these are the AT2, maybe the 2 means they redeveloped them, dunno.

I personally lilke the involved side walls, they look more aggressive. I love the nitto grapplers because they have gnar side walls. Some walls are ugly though. But to each his own

working on the wheels soon. As i said this was an emergency purpose. Next things to come are going to be front tube bumper and skid plate, rear tube bumper, lift coils, and flat black wheels, possilby fox shocks. Eventually I will build a midtravel kits that will use the Camburg CRS coils and 8" 2.0 fox resi's. So essentially im doing it in steps.

Re: Fresh 31's! General Grabber AT2
DAMN you're saying the BFGs are expensive. You payed $70 MORE overall than I did for my 31s and you have smaller tires.! Thats why I went local, dont have to pay shipping and shit like that. Mine were $633 installed. Ans yeah the BFGs do have two options, Whiter letters or black wall. They last a lifetime as well! Also with ANY all terrain, they do not do well in sticky mud. The lugs are just too close. My BFGs are the same way along with any other A/T I have ever owned.

I didnt pay shipping from anywhere. I bought them local, from discount tire. They were 145 or 140 a tire I believe, plus stems, disposal fee for my old useless tires, and then Nevada tax which is 8.1% which may be higher than were you got them. It was 703 out the door. Also, how are my 31's are smaller than your 31's, unless your talking width?? Ya, I figured they had black too. I also sold my old rear tires for $40 in two hours on craigslist. So my overall price was $663. they wanted 170-175 for the Bfg, not worth 120 more for a slightly thicker side wall and a bigger name who spenids more money advertising than r&d. I wont be doing rock crawling or anything with high potential for sidewall damage so its not a big deal.

Despite only having them a few days now, I love them. The ride really smoothes out and they look great also and have a decent price, depending on where you get them because some people say they paid less for bfgs, but originally discount was quoting me over 800 for 4 bfgs with their lifetime warranty, close to 900 actually.

Ah, they didnt look like 31s for some reason. Anyhow, THey are a nice tires, i guess im just biased because I love my tires so much...lol. I was actually looking at getting some but ultimatly decided on the BFGs. I may end up having to get some on my next set of tires seeing as some 32" BFGs are going to be crazy expensive
