Well, since I'm on an indefinite vacation (ie: lay off), I decided to go and get my tires rotated today (since it's free, I'm going to be lazy for a week or so, and I just wanted to go drive around, lol). I called the shop at 11:03, told them I'd be there in 45 minutes, and headed down the driveway.
After pulling out onto the main road headed towards the highway, a lady in a Jeep Grand Cherokee comes driving towards the road from a driveway not more then 50 yards away from my own. She looks to her right, and proceeds out without looking to her left. Bam! She hits me, and my foot immediately goes to the floor on top of my brake pedal.
I put the truck in reverse and back out of the middle of the road, as there were cars coming from the opposite direction (yes, she hit me hard enough to push me into oncoming traffic). I put the truck into park, turned on my hazards, and hopped out of the truck, trying to stay calm.
"It doesn't look like I did anything", she says from her open window. She didn't even bother to put it in park, or shut off her engine and take a look at her own rig. I take a gander at hers first, see that her license plate is on the ground, and her bumper looks like it was dragged over rubber at a high rate of speed, only to turn to my truck and see that there was indeed "something".
"Didn't do anything? You hit my %&*#ing truck!" I roared. For some reason, my calm disappeared, and the little patience I did have did as well.
"You don't need to swear!" she sobbed, which reminded me that it was only an accident.
So I called the police, at 11:07 (four minutes, lol) and they told me to stay on the line after asking about injuries and the like. Then I called my new insurance agent, who didn't answer of course. I then called my dad, who left literally 10 minutes before I did from the house. He asked if he needed to turn around, which I said no. Then I called my mom and vented a little (I was extremely angry at the moment, since the lady kept saying that there was no need to get the insurance involved and had her check book out).
Finally, at about noon the highway patrolman gets there after we already gathered a crowd of supposed "witnesses" who really just wanted some attention. Another hour goes by, and the accident report is done.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling now and show the pics. Surprisingly, my truck didn't get that much damage. $700 worth from the estimates I got. Still steers and drives fine.
Still no word from my or her insurance companies. I'm not too worried yet. I probably will just live with the bumper, but the wheel is getting replaced no if's, and's or but's. Already ordered it, pending payment from the insurance company (my tire guy has it on stand by, lol). Needless to say, I didn't bother rotating the tires yet.
