To ship it back, if it's the only vehicle he'll be bringing back to the States with him, the military pays for it. It'll be free for him. It's part of the moving expenses. The reason he paid to have it shipped there was because he bought it while there instead of taking it with him. It was prolly just the destination charge like they add to all window stickers.
Took my Ranger to Europe and brought it back and it didn't cost me a penny. My Ranger has been in many countries: Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland. I just wish I had taken pictures in each of these places.
That's just my take. He can tell you different if it is. I'm just sitting here at work chillin with nothing better to do
Very true, except I will have to pay to ship back (price always changing), as my wife has a 2007 Explorer we shipped over here, and plan on taking back with us. Yes, it sucks to pay to ship one of the cars, but at least will have two cars and no car payment, which makes it worth it.

Yeah, paying for the second vehicle sucks. I bought a little euro-spec hatchback and drove it around while I was over there. I parked my truck and only drove it to Germany to see my girl. Sold the hatchback before coming back to CONUS. I'd loved to have kept that little Starlet though. I loved that thing...all 1.3L's of it.

I guess you could tint the windows while youre there. It'll look nice and keep prying eyes away. The headlight mod (painted inside) is easy to do. I did mine myself; saved me $150. I'd let the 'new' wear off before doing any major changes to it.

What will you be using your truck for? Maybe some practical mods might be helpful. How about a grill guard, a roll bar?

Novelty shop? LOL! Brother, I am US Army, stationed in Germany. The KL stands for Kaiserslautern (K-Town), which is the German city where I love over here.

I agree about the tires. Trying to kill two birds with one stone. Wife has Explorer, which will need new tires in a few months. Trying to tell her these tires will look nice on her ride (so I can justify dropping the cash on new tires for my truck). Oh well, wish me luck!

I would add a Hard tonneau cover and a tailgate lock. I saw an electric one on here the other day that unlocked with the remote when you unlock the doors. There was a video too.
