But those trucks are getting old and worn out now, so most of the Torsens in them are worn out. 31 spline axles are nice, but most people don't wheel Rangers hard enough to need that beef. The tow hooks are pretty, but that's the problem, the Level II is basically an appearance package with a couple "upgrades" thrown in.

If I had to choose between dropping $10k on a Level II versus dropping $6K on a similar year Ranger, I would go for the $6k truck and use the remaining $4k to build it up and outperform any stock Level II, both in appearance and functionality.
That's a lot of new info to me, so it sounds like the 3 things I like most about it are already in my plans to add to my truck anyways (hooks, manual t case, and cluster)

Btw, you're the one who set me on wanting a 4x4 conversion, only I want to go all the way

And in the spirit of this thread, saw a sweet mustang a few hours ago

In a way I'm glad I didn't go through with it since I would never use it. But at the same time, the 4x4 bearing assemblies are a little more beefy than 4x2 bearings, and it would be nice to still have those.

I'm a little unsure if I want to go for a big lift or convert myself, but with my tranny starting to lose 1st and maybe 3rd, I can get a nice low miles 4x4 2001 tranny for $250 vs a rebuild of mine or a brand new one for $500

After that buy a wrecked 4x4 truck and scavange the parts, and convert when time allows. I am sure as much lift as I would want is costly and not something I would motivate myself to do.

Lifting a torsion bar 4x4 ranger is neither a cheap nor easy endeavor. Lol.
