Default Very tiny Ranger update.

Well, because I am bored as hell and started drinking about an hour ago, I figured I would listen to some tunes and work on the exhaust manifold bolt that broke in the drivers side head. My parts should be here tomorrow!

And just so you guys don't think I have been slacking off, here has been an ongoing project. A 93 Jeep Wrangler. It had a bad transmission, so we (my dad and I) swapped a new(er) one in. Unfortunately for us, the torque converter is also bad. It runs great, though. Took us a bit to get the engine all connected back together since we have no knowledge of the vehicle, and everything was disconnected prior to us getting it.

And my next project is to clean up the damn shop so I can pull the Ranger in and FIND SHIT! That'll be after the Jeep is out, though, so until then I'll be outside in this crappy weather.

Anyway, back to trying to get this bolt out. May have to drill it out, but we'll see.

Alright, got a question.

If I were to drill this out, do I need to retap the hole after? I don't have a pair of vice grips here, and I think if I do it that way I'm gonna need some PB blaster or something.

Oh, and because I never took a picture of the bad valve, here you go:

Can't get a good enough picture of it, but the stem on it is bent.

Yes, if you drill the bolt out you will have to re-tap/thread the hole before you can put in a new bolt...good luck gettin it running again.

Yeah, as SPless said, you've got to re-tap if you drill out the broken bolt. Using a center punch and then stepping up through drill bit sizes works well to keep you centered on the broken bolt.

and you may know this, but just in case you've never drilled out a bolt before, try to get some sort of lubricant you can keep on the bit so it won't get too hot

Soak that bad boy with the PB blaster, heat the head, cool the bolt and then try to twist it out. In my experiance, I don't drill unless I got nothing to hang onto.

Lol, I ran out of beer this weekend. Went through a full case of Kokanee and Coors light, lol. It was all that was left in the fridge.

I wanna come out there for the meet, but I doubt I will bring the Ranger. We'll see though.

No news yet. Talked to my parts guy and he said he hasn't heard from his supplier about my parts yet. I told him I'd give him another week. Kinda weird how long this is taking.
