it all depends on how much snow is on the ground....I have gone through drifts up to my headlights with no issues (with a/t tires) never used chains in my life...

you wouldnt do that for any distance regardless of "a/t tires"

You also have a 4x4. I have a/t tires with the little snowflake but id rathe get chains to play it safe.

First time driving in more than an inch of snow. I was happy with how well the ranger did.

I was less than thrilled with how it handled ice, however:

Though if I'm honest it was mostly my fault for going too fast down an icy shelf road

Yep, would've helped for sure. I'm not up in the mountains all the time though so I've been looking at getting a set of chains.
