You do understand that 'factory' ratings on any of these is of limited value right? Manufacturers were very much in the habit of under-reporting these numbers for insurance purposes.

yes exactly, that's why I made a point to say "factory rated". Ls6 454s have been dynoed well over 500hp and 520 lb/ft of torque

Doesn't seem to be that much. Boss 429's stock from Ford have been dynoed at close to 700hp...
Edit: might be the 427 side oiler I am thinking of... either way ford said the 427 in the Cobra had 425hp and the Boss 429 had 375...

hell no. Not even gonna come close to believing that. The only mustang from that era that even came remotely close to 700 was the '68 gt500 super snake
