Default This past friday

So this last friday me and my dad took a drive out to small town Saskatchewan to work on the Ranger at my uncle's Ford dealership/shop. We went there mainly to fix my 4x4 which had stopped working for a while (like a year), and he had some other plans as well. We first took of the driveshaft cause' we thought we could fix a little "kick" when I put the truck in gear. We ended up just greasing it up and puttin it back on, haven't driven it since though (will explain), but I don't think that fixed the kicking. We then unbolted the 4x4 motor to see if it was actually engaging, it was. So we were out of ideas as to why the 4x4 wasn't working. We were standing by the front passenger wheel and I put a little weight on it, it wobbled and immediately I said "that's not right.....". So we took off the wheel to find that the bearings/hub were dried up and worn to shit. The previous owners said they checked and replaced the bearings, but they only did the driver's side. I guess this is why my 4x4 wasn't working. So, my uncle called around to Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, and no one carries what I need for my year of truck, so I am without my truck for hopefully just a week while they order it and install it. At least I get to drive a newer Ranger while mines getting fixed, so it's not all bad. Not near as good as it would be to have all the cash I gotta fork up refunded, but oh well.
Oh yeah.. I picked the worst day to drive on the highway. Extremely windy, topped 104 km/h!!! That wind mixed with snow means no visibility in parts. Saw 4 semis tipped over and in the ditch, one was across the highway and we had to go around it using the shoulder/ditch. I had tank-like mpgs going down there, using a whole tank of gas in about an hour and 15 maybe less. My rpms were constantly at 3500-4000 because we were going head-on into the wind the whole way. Most of the ice/snow you see in some pics ended up falling off ontop of my head.
I took a few pics with my phone, sacrificed the touch screen with oil-y/greasy hands.
Just got er up on the lift.

Took the driveshaft off

Dad putting the tie things back on the end

Then this is what has to be replaced

and I took a pic of my spare tire while I could, its a Firestone Wilderness somethin

Not nearly as cool of post as I would have liked, but whatever. I guess I posted it to possibly help anyone with the problem of their 4x4 not working.

I had trouble with my 4x4 once, ended up being the piece of chet PVH! I just modified them to work manually, not a problem since then. Check the PVH man, more than likely that could be the problem.. Nice truck btw
