So i am back, with a few updates. Sold some things, bought some things, etc. This post is about the 1999 Ford Ranger i bought for 300$ Ext cab, 3.0l, 5spd, coil sprung. Drove it home.

The good:

New spring hangers
New brake lines
Mint box
Mint rad support
Solid rear bumper
Perfect 5spd swap

The bad:

Blown head gaskets
Frankenframe

So i have er all stripped down and ready to go. Stay tuned as my next post, i tear into my rear frame. Grinding, wiring, scraping, sanding and POR 15!

So I got all the rust free parts I needed. Got 2 rear shackles and hangers to replace on the rear. Got my por 15. Now it is time to restore my rear frame. Going into this I was worried as to what I would be left with after the sanding, grinding, wriring etc.... but I was happily suprised. My rear rails were in pretty damn good shape. Have a look at the process. Theres not as many pics as I did most of this through a late night and never really stopped much for anything.

I started grinding, sanding and wheeling the frame and into the next day, this is how she looked. Added a rear crossmember and fabricated new brackets for the vapor canister. Also por 15d tthe spring shackles and hangers

Next post I strip the box off my truck (wiring, tailgate, lights etc), remove the accessories (wheel flares and box rails) and prep it to install on my frame. Stay tuned!

So, thank crap the box on my parts truck was mint, cause mine was JUNK. I think all that was holding it together was trim clips and flaking paint. But, nonetheless, I got the flares and bed rails rwmoved without breaking any clips or brackets. Woota!

So I started the prep on the new box. Wire wheel and sanding, after a good wash. Then I applied a coat or por 15 to all inside panels. Inner wheel wells, lower quarters, entire bed and crossmembers, etc.

The last 3 pics of this post are older than the firat 2, but show off the shape of the box. Notice in the first 2 i have the bed rails on, and the new shackles lifted my rear wnd up a bit. My old shackles had collapsed and sagged the rear. Stay tuned as I add more touches. I now have the flares on the truck and have gotten her super muddy in the spring thaw, LOL

HERES A PREVIEW, lol. Im almost at work and have to stop posting

Have to have some fun before its a full blown beauty queen within the next year. 5.0l, we are getting close!!

Made some progress on my future 5.0l, present daily driver. Have an incredible amount of pictures, but I seem to be the only one following this thread.

Stripped the front end.
Front frame clean.
Front suspension level.
Front bumper cleanup and repair.
Wiring hidden and looms clean.
Painted and installed wind deflector.
Painted the truck temporarily in a gloss black fade, from new to old (I painted from beltline down.)

Here's how she sits now, till next weekend.

Take care everyone (anyone?) who enjoyed this thread!
