I was getting the truck ready for sale when she threw a rod. We’re in the process of moving to Hawai’i so I actually no longer have a need for a vehicle stateside. I’m either going to find a someone who wants to buy her and swap in a good engine and get a great truck, or store her out at our property in Elma until a motor arrives and I pay to have it done.
I will cover the tow to the new owner within 100 miles of Tacoma.
I know everything that’s good and everything that’s bad with this truck. I’ve owned her the last 4 years and have extensive records and receipts of everything that’s been done. Just replaced the front brake pads. This past year I’ve done the following before finding out we’re leaving the mainland:
- $3000 Aamco full transmission rebuild (under warranty still)
- $600 rear leaf springs
- $400 lower control arms
- $250 large capacity aluminum radiator
Since buying her, she’s had the transfer case resealed, the transaxle resealed, the drive shaft replaced, Bilstein shocks installed, rotors, rear drums, a yellow top battery installed, new plugs, new wires, a new alternator, new belts, misc engine components, and a Westin bar with Hella Ralleye pencil beam lights added. All fluids and lubrication have been premium and synthetic where needed.
There is some repairable rust (was planning on addressing that this week), along with upper control arm bushings, and an AC recharge needed (does blow cold, but about 8psi below where needed).
Right now planning on selling without the cap (54” Yakima bars, extensions, and 100 watt solar panel). If you make me a solid offer, she’s yours today. With a new motor, this will be a very reliable and tough little trail truck.
Mechanics special until she goes into storage!
