2003 Ranger FX4 5 speed Twin Sticks
I rolled my Ranger last winter and have been holding on to it since a twin stick Ranger is so rare (less then 8,000 built).
I may have found another one I'd like to buy but then would be left with this totaled Ranger. I'm wondering what it is worth. I BELIEVE the frame, suspension, drive train and all chassis components are working or salvageable but the cab / bed are toast.
Anyone want to give me an idea? I can sell it as a salvage for anyone who wants a twin stick to rebuild or for parts? I'd hate to sell it for parts but I know it will cost more to put a new body on it than to buy the one I found.
How much is a 2003 Ranger FX4 Level II with Twin Sticks worth these day? Around 150K miles with what looks like a rust free body.

Re: 2003 Ranger FX4 5 speed Twin Sticks
Personally I wouldn't be interested in an engine that had been in a roll over accident. Even if the seller claimed the fuel pump inertia switch had tripped. An engine running for a few seconds with no oil to the pickup tube can be enough to do engine bearing damage.
So it may be worth something to you, but to me, that engine is high enough mileage and is a risky purchase because of the rollover.
The transfer case would interest me, and the rear axle possibly, but that's about it.

Re: 2003 Ranger FX4 5 speed Twin Sticks
So what would the transfer case / axle be worth? I'm just trying to figure out if I should part it out or keep it as a project.

Re: 2003 Ranger FX4 5 speed Twin Sticks
I'm not really up to speed on today's prices, but a manual transfer case should bring $200 pretty easily. With the shifter assembly, linkage, rubber boot, and plastic trim to hold it to the floor, I could see it being worth $300-$350 or so. Possibly quite a bit less due to the mileage, etc. It's nearing the end of it's service life, or needing a rebuild at the very least. My truck at 180,000 miles is in need of a new transfer case chain, and it's never been abused in the mud..
The axle, in my opinion, would top out around $350, but only because of mileage on it. Probably less due to the rollover and having possible bent axle shaft flanges. It only takes a millimeter of flange runout to cause all sorts of vibrational problems. But I do know for a fact that if you have one delivered to you from a professional salvage company, you'll pay right around $750 - because that's exactly what I paid for my low mileage FX4 LVLII axle. 4.10 gears with Torsen locker. But it was like brand new.
These are just my thoughts and opinions after being a Ranger enthusiast for over 20 years and researching parts and their prices for the last 1.5 years for my V8 swap truck build. I have several parts trucks myself and have sold a few parts here and there over the last several years..

Did you ever decide on selling the truck? I would potentially be interested. Located in MI too

I still have the truck. Trying to decide what to do with it. What did you have in mind? I'd really like to see it rebuilt or at least used to rebuild another FX4 Twin Stick.

Realistically I'd like the trans and t case, shifters, and potentially the interior for my truck

Why don't you go ahead and look for another FX4 that is cheep and needs work, so can use the parts from yours?
Or, get a regular ranger about the same year, and use your parts to make an FX4

Re: 2003 Ranger FX4 5 speed Twin Sticks
I already bought another 2003 FX4 Level II with Twin Sticks. It doesn't need any parts from the other truck (although I'm going to swap wheels, the new one has black plastidip rims, which I hate).
I'm just trying to figure out what to do with the Red one I rolled. It should be rebuilt or used to rebuild another FX4. I'm in no hurry, but I hat that it is sitting under a tarp at the end of my lot all year long.

Re: 2003 Ranger FX4 5 speed Twin Sticks
Would you trade the twin stick/tail housing set up for an Audiofile center console? It's the one with the subwoofer built in.

So, I'm curious whatever happened with your truck?
